Cuauhtemoc Blanco, probably the best Mexican player of his generation, returns this weekend to play in Mexico after stints in Chicago and in Spain with Valladolid.

But he's not coming back with one of Mexico's top clubs.

Instead, he's resuming his career with second-division Veracruz, hoping to get the Red Sharks promoted to the top division.

Blanco won't be around for long. At the end of March he will head to a two-month training camp for Mexico's national team as it prepares for the World Cup in June in South Africa.
