McCarthy only named a 24-man squad for the first half of the Premier League campaign. Wolves had been hoping to sign free agent James McFadden before he joined Saturday's opponents Everton last month. McCarthy said: "We'll be looking to do something in January, definitely. If we can get anybody, it would be important to freshen the squad up. "If we can get someone who will improve us a squad or a team, then we will try and do some business."
