Martino admits future not guaranteed at Barcelona beyond end of season
Barcelona manager Tata Martino has revealed there are no guarantees that will keep him at Camp Nou beyond the end of the season.
Reports in the Spanish media suggest the Argentinian coach could be under fire, should Barcelona fail to win either La Liga or the UEFA Champions League.
The defending Spanish champions are currently second in the title race, one point behind Real Madrid, while Atletico Madrid remain hot on their heels in third.
Champions League progress, however, looks more straight-forward at present as they head into Wednesday's second leg against Manchester City with a two-goal advantage in the last 16.
Next on the agenda for Martino is a trip to Valladolid but, ahead of the clash, the 51-year-old was quick to dismiss speculation regarding his future.
"Whatever I say or do not say you all still debate it equally," the coach told the assembled media.
"I have nothing to say about my future. It is clear that [Victor] Valdes is going and we need to look for a new goalkeeper, [Carles] Puyol is going and we need a new center-half, but I am not going to come with a big sign saying I have met with this person or that person.
"Now, I have no guarantees to give you because that will have to come from the board or from [technical secretary] Andoni Zubizarreta."
Despite the announcement that talismanic Spain center-back Carles Puyol will leave at the end of the season, whixh has resulted in Barcelona being linked with several defenders, Martino insists those discussions are for him and the board.
"Nothing has changed now from what I said a week or ten days ago as I have not said anything about next season," he continued.
"The only news is that Puyol is going and we need a new defender, but with respect to other players, there is nothing. It's something I'll only talk about with Zubizarreta or the board."
