Chivas USA's Jesse Marsch is retiring as a player to become
assistant coach to Bob Bradley on the U.S. soccer team.
The 36-year-old midfielder won three league titles and four
U.S. Open Cups during 14 MLS seasons and was Chivas USA's captain
for much of the past two seasons. He made two appearances for the
U.S. national team, in a 2001 World Cup qualifier at Trinidad and
Tobago and a 2007 exhibition against China.
Marsch played for Bradley at Princeton in 1992, with the
Chicago Fire in 1998 and with Chivas USA in 2006. The two were
together at D.C. United in 1996, when Bradley was an assistant.
