English soccer club Manchester City will face Mexico's Club America in an exhibition game at the Georgia Dome on July 28.

The game is part of Manchester City's preseason U.S. tour, which also includes a July 17 match against the Portland Timbers - who will join Major League Soccer next season - as well as participation in the New York Football Challenge, which is being hosted by the New York Red Bulls from July 22-25.

Atlanta hopes the game will boost its chances of being a World Cup city if the U.S. is selected as host for either the 2018 or 2022 tournament.

Last year, Club America and A.C. Milan drew 53,600 for an exhibition game played on a temporary grass field installed in the Georgia Dome. A friendly between Mexico and Venezuela also drew more than 50,000.
