Manchester United has agreed a seven-year shirt sponsorship deal with American car company Chevrolet, which will begin at the start of the 2014-15 season.

United's commercial director Richard Arnold says it is a ''fantastic, long-term deal for the club'' and that Chevrolet ''enjoyed the buzz generated by our fanatical support and the sell-out crowds in South Africa, China and Europe'' where the club travelled on a pre-season tour.

The current United shirt sponsor, Aon, has another two seasons to run with the 19-time league champion in a deal that began in the 2010-11 season.

Last week, Chevrolet was announced as the official club car sponsor of Premier League rival Liverpool and the company also sponsored the club's tour of North America.
