Manchester City signed Stefan Savic from Partizan Belgrade on Wednesday, making the Montenegro defender the Premier League club's second signing of the transfer window.
City has given the 20-year-old defender a four-year contract but did not say how much it paid for Savic, who has made six international appearances.
City signed left back Gael Clichy on Monday from Arsenal, which came close to signing Savic a year ago after his 10-day trial with the north London club.
But Savic instead switched to Partizan from BSK Borca.
''I'm especially looking forward to meeting (teammates) Edin Dzeko and Aleksandar Kolarov because they both speak my language and come from the Balkans, too,'' Savic said. ''Aleks has already phoned me to welcome to City, which makes me feel at home already.''
Savic, who can play in central defense or right back, came up against five City players in October when Montenegro held England to a 0-0 draw at Wembley in European Championship qualifying.
''I never imagined that I'd be teammates with all those City players within a year and I'm so happy to be at this club,'' Savic said.
