Malaga signed coach Manuel Pellegrini to a two-year contract extension on Thursday, tying the Chilean to the club until 2015.

The former Real Madrid coach replaced Jesus Ferreira last season while Malaga was stumbling, and he guided it to an 11th-place finish.

Terms of the deal were not announced.

Pellegrini led Madrid to its best-ever points total during the 2009-10 season but was fired after finishing behind Barcelona. He also coached at Villarreal, where his attractive style of play won him admirers and, eventually, the Madrid job.
