Late goals from Bafetimbi Gomis and Alexandre Lacazette gave Lyon a 3-1 victory, although the scoreline does not tell the whole story of a tight Ligue 1 encounter.

Dijon missed an early penalty and also struck the post with the scoreline 1-1, before the home side finished strongest at Stade de Gerland.

Les Gones started brightly and were ahead in the eighth minute, Jimmy Briand heading in after good work from Michel Bastos.

Brice Jovial wasted an excellent chance to get Patrice Carteron's side back on level terms in the 10th minute, hitting the frame of the goal from the penalty spot after Benjamin Corgnet had been fouled in the area.

Lisandro saw an excellent 14th-minute effort saved by Baptiste Reynet and five minutes later the Dijon goalkeeper kept out a long-range effort from Bastos.

Lyon continued to press and in the 24th minute Bastos was again denied by Reynet.

However, Dijon started the second half brightly and Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris needed to be at his best to keep out Eric Bautheac's free-kick with his fingertips.

And the home support were stunned on the hour when Jovial beat Maxime Gonalons and Samuel Umtiti and flicked the ball to Younousse Sankhare, who beat Lloris from close range.

The game was almost turned on its head three minutes later when Thomas Guerbert struck the post, however Lyon regained their composure and finished strongly.

After Clement Grenier had tested Reynet in the 65th minute, the home side drew level nine minutes from time when Gonalons freed Gomis, who held off two defenders and beat Reynet with a powerful shot.

The points were safe a minute from time when Ederson crossed toward Gomis, who controlled and fed Lacazette for a close range shot which completed the scoring.
