Seven-time French champion Lyon has signed Senegal defender Pape Diakhate on a one-year loan contract.
The 26-year-old Diakhate says his decision to leave Dynamo Kiev was motivated by the prospect of "signing with a great club which is going to play the Champions League."
After six seasons with French club Nancy, Diakhate joined Dynamo in 2007 and won the Ukrainian title in 2009.
Diakhate, who was also coveted by Paris Saint-Germain, spent several months on loan with Lyon rival Saint-Etienne last season.
