St Johnstone manager Steve Lomas has stressed that his name being linked to the vacant managerial post at Burnley is no more than speculation.

The Clarets have begun their search for Eddie Howe's successor, with former Watford manager Sean Dyche and Falkirk boss Steven Pressley reportedly in the frame along with Northern Irishman Lomas.

St Johnstone are in second place in the Scottish Premier League behind Celtic following their 2-1 win over Kilmarnock last week, which equalled a club record of five straight top-flight wins dating back to 1971.

Lomas, preparing for Saturday's trip to Inverness, said: "I think it is just speculation. "There will be loads of people in for that.

"It is flattering and it proves that the lads must be doing something right but we are just focused on Inverness, it is a massive game on Saturday and we want to break that record.

"I don't want to talk about speculation, it is purely that."
