Liverpool defender Glen Johnson has injured the medial ligament in his knee and is set to miss several games for the Premier League club.

The England defender limped off in the 88th minute of Liverpool's 1-0 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League on Tuesday.

"A scan today has revealed a tear in the medial ligaments in Glen's right knee," Liverpool said Wednesday. "The player will see a specialist tomorrow, after which we should be able to more accurately determine the length of his rehabilitation period."

Johnson has scored twice in 16 league matches this season and played five times for England.
