The English Football Association says Liverpool will not appeal against Luis Suarez's eight-match ban for repeatedly racially abusing an opponent during a match.

The decision means the suspension will start with immediate effect, and Suarez will miss Tuesday's Premier League match at Manchester City.

The Uruguay striker was also fined 40,000 pounds for hurling racial insults at Manchester United defender Patrice Evra in October during a 1-1 draw at Anfield.
