Liverpool is set to strengthen its forward line by signing Iago Aspas from Spanish team Celta Vigo.

The Premier League club says Thursday it has agreed a deal in principle with Celta for the transfer of Aspas, subject to documentation being completed. British media reported that the striker will cost around 7 million pounds ($11 million).

Aspas was one of the revelations of the Spanish league last season, providing almost all the attacking punch for promoted Celta and scoring 12 goals in 34 games. However, he tarnished his campaign with a four-game ban for headbutting an opponent.

Liverpool may need numbers up front as Luis Suarez is banned for the first six games of the season for biting an opponent, and has said he would consider offers from other clubs.
