Libya's football team is due to arrive Wednesday in Equatorial Guinea, aiming to cap a turbulent year that included the overthrow of a brutal dictator with success in the African Cup of Nations.

Libya faces tournament co-host Equatorial Guinea in Saturday's opening match after successfully negotiating a remarkable qualification campaign while the rebellion against Moammar Gadhafi raged at home.

Players stepped off the front line and overcame the loss of family members in bombing raids to seal qualification ahead of reigning champion Egypt.

Libya's players were due to arrive in Bata later Wednesday.
