Lazio playmaker Hernanes is likely to miss the rest of the season with a thigh injury, dealing a blow to the Serie A club's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.

Hernanes was substituted at halftime in Sunday's draw with Lecce and tests Tuesday reveal the Brazilian has a ''first to second degree tear to his left thigh muscle.''

It is a further blow to Lazio with Christian Brocchi already out for the run-in and leading striker Miroslav Klose struggling to recover in time for the last few games.

Lazio is currently third, but just three points ahead of Udinese, with Napoli and Roma also close behind. Inter Milan is seventh, six points behind Lazio.
