Latics star Boyce ready to attack

Boyce provided the assist for Tom Cleverley to equalise against Birmingham last weekend before fellow defender Maynor Figueroa hit the winner in a 2-1 victory. Wigan are bottom of the table with 30 points but there is just a six-point gap to 11th-placed Newcastle with plenty more twists and turns set to occur before the end of the season. And Boyce plans to carry on going forward as the Latics look to score the goals and get the points to stay in the top flight. Boyce told the Wigan Evening Post: "I managed to get forward quite a bit, and it's something I have been working on. Hopefully I can chip in with the creativity and we can keep getting guys on the end of the crosses and score the goals we need to stay up. "Obviously Maynor popped up with the winner as well, so both us full-backs contributed in that area. But the most important thing is the three points and we got those as well." Boyce is delighted to be back in action after an injury-hit campaign. He added: "It's great to be back - it's the longest I've been out in terms of injury. "We managed to get the three points and the hamstring held out, which made it a double bonus. We really showed the character in the side to come back from a goal behind against a very solid team. We also showed the creativity we have to get the result we deserved."
