Lambert ready to move on

The newly promoted Canaries were ripped apart by the League One leaders, who scored twice in each half to secure a thoroughly deserved Carling Cup victory at Carrow Road. Next up for Lambert's side is a trip to Stamford Bridge on Saturday, where they have lost 4-0 on each of their three previous visits, but a completely different team is likely to be on duty at the weekend and the Norwich boss is confident they will give a good account of themselves. "When you suffer a defeat like this you always expect a reaction in your next game and I am sure we will get one," he said. "I am sure my players will react to this in the right way. Rest assured when we play Chelsea on Saturday we will be ready for the challenge." Lambert rested all 11 of the players who started Sunday's 1-1 draw with Stoke in the Premier League, but his starting line-up still featured five of the men who started at Wigan in the Canaries' first match back in the top flight, and the manager was making no excuses after seeing an experienced outfit well and truly outplayed. "We just never got going and you have got to give credit to MK Dons who deserved to win the game," said Lambert on Wednesday. "We win as a team and we lose as a team. I don't want to focus on any particular area. We put out a strong team last night but we didn't play well and were beaten by the better side on the night. "I have not had many experiences like this since I have been here, but they say you learn more from your defeats than you do from your wins and hopefully that will be the case. "I picked the team and I take full responsibility for last night. When something like this happens it is my fault." MK Dons assistant manager John Gorman paid tribute to former Norwich man Luke Chadwick, who score twice on a painful night for the hosts. "He has got a lot of quality but the most important think about Luke is that he just loves playing football," he said. "We gave him a rest against Chesterfield on Saturday and he hated it. He made his point by coming off the bench and scoring a goal. "He was terrific last night and it was great to see him finishing so well. He's always had a lot of skill but he really should be scoring more goals and we have been telling him how to finish, by sidefooting it in rather than trying to blast it. He certainly did that last night."
