Srdjan Lakic has agreed to join Bundesliga side Wolfsburg on a free transfer from Kaiserslautern after the end of the season, the German club announced Thursday.

The Croatian striker's contract with Kaiserslautern expires in June, allowing the 27-year-old to sign a four-year-deal with coach Steve McClaren's side from July 1.

"Lakic is a classic center forward who is dangerous and dynamic in front of goal," said Wolfsburg chairman Dieter Hoeness. "He goes where it hurts, creates space and works for the team."

Lakic is fourth in the Bundesliga scoring charts with 11 goals and has scored 30 goals in 66 league games for Kaiserslautern.

"I am very happy the transfer has worked out," Lakic said. "It's a great challenge for me. Wolfsburg is big club with huge ambitions in which I hope I can play an important role."

He added that "until then I will fully concentrate on Kaiserslautern and hope to finish the season with success."
