The 22-year-old keeper has impressed this season since stepping in to provide cover for the Magpies' recognised number one. Having been given the opportunity to turn out on a regular basis in the Premier League, the Dutchman admits he has got a taste for the high life. His ambition now is to retain his place in Chris Hughton's plans, with Harper on the comeback trail, while also pushing for recognition with the senior Holland side. Krul said in the Sunday Mirror: "I have played for Holland at various levels and am ready to move on from the U21 side to try and challenge for senior honours. "To have a chance of one day making it into the Holland senior side I first had to establish myself as a Premier League keeper and this season I have managed to do that. "But my first target is to remain Newcastle's first choice. It has been good for me to have a good run because last season at Newcastle it was just one game here and one game there." Krul has played a leading role in helping Newcastle to establish themselves back in the Premier League this season, but he insists avoiding the drop remains the sole priority for the North-East outfit. He added: "That target has always been staying up. We need to get the points to stay up and then we can look ahead. "This first season is all about getting this club steady again and to be honest we are going above that aim at the moment. "Hopefully, we can stay above that."
