Vincent Kompany has extended his contract with Manchester City for two more years until 2014.
The 23-year-old Belgium defensive midfielder, who joined City from Bundesliga club Hamburger SV in August 2008, already had a deal until 2012.
Amid speculation that Kompany might be moving to Barcelona in the January transfer window, City announced Monday he now has a new five-year contract.
