Marco Borriello scored his first goal for Juventus in the 79th minute, giving the Serie A leader a 1-0 victory over Cesena on Wednesday night that maintained a three-point margin over defending champion AC Milan with four games left.
Borriello left AC Milan in August 2010 for Roma and joined Juventus in January. Andrea Pirlo had missed his second penalty kick in a row for Juventus in the eighth minute.
Milan won 1-0 at home against Genoa on a goal by Kevin-Prince Boateng in the 85th minute.
Juventus (20-0-14), seeking its first league title since 2003, has road games remaining at Novara and Cagliari, and home matches against Lecce and Atalanta. Milan (21-5-8) is at Siena and crosstown rival Inter, and hosts Atalanta and Novara.
Juve is seeking to become the first team to go unbeaten in Serie A since AC Milan went 22-0-12 in 1991-92.
