Jones in talks over Potters switch

Jones, who was linked with a January loan move to Liverpool, has travelled down to the Potteries for discussions with Tony Pulis and chief executive Tony Scholes. Pulis has been looking at trying to improve his forward line and reached a verbal agreement with French club Nice over a fee for Loic Remy but that deal has stalled. However Jones has been a top target for Pulis for a number of years - the Trinidadian even spent time on loan at Stoke in 2005 - and the 25-year-old is finally expected to move to the Britannia this afternoon for an initial fee of £7million that could eventually rise £10million. Stoke are in the market for another striker as they attempt to move on Dave Kitson and James Beattie, while Pulis is also looking for a midfielder and winger after being armed with a bumper transfer kitty by the club's super-rich chairman Peter Coates.
