Jones counting cost of mistakes

Sheffield Wednesday's Daniel Jones said his side have paid the price this season for mistakes which would have gone unpunished in League One.

The Owls clinched automatic promotion last season and made an impressive start to the current campaign until a run of nine league games without a win has plunged them into the bottom three.

"That's just the harsh realities of the Championship," said Jones.

"You step up from League One and those things you would get away with in League One, you don't get away with in the Championship.

"We've experienced this. Every mistake we seem to make, we concede a goal. It's a ruthless league and we need to cut out the mistakes."

Wednesday clinched their first win in 11 matches last weekend at Ipswich and Jones is convinced they will move clear of relegation danger.

"We've got the quality in our team to push right on up to the top-end of the Championship, so we're not panicking. The training that we're doing and the way we knock the ball around out there gives us the belief we can climb the table," he added.
