The Newcastle Jets have been forced to postpone an A-League match against North Queensland Fury after Football Federation Australia experts ruled that a motocross event at the venue had rendered the pitch unsafe for players.
The Fury squad was en route from far north Australia to Newcastle, north of Sydney, on Tuesday when it was notified that Wednesday's match had been postponed.
No new date or venue for the match has been fixed.
Fury chief executive Rabieh Krayem described the decision to host a motocross event at the football stadium on Oct. 16 as ''mind-boggling.''

''The state of the pitch is beyond a disgrace and is certainly not fit to hold any football match,'' he said.
