Jerome Boateng joins Bayern from Manchester City

Germany defender Jerome Boateng is set to join Bayern Munich from Manchester City on a four-year contract.
Bayern said Thursday Boateng will arrive in Munich for a medical in the next few days and sign his contract. It said both clubs agreed not to disclose the transfer fee.
The 22-year-old Boateng, who joined Manchester City from Hamburg at the beginning of last season on a five-year deal, is currently in Los Angeles with City.
Bayern sporting director Christian Nerlinger says Boateng ''fits perfectly with Bayern's philosophy - he is also the player our coach, Jupp Heynckes, wanted.''
Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said the transfer followed long and ''intensive negotiations.''
Heynckes is returning to Bayern for his third stint at Germany's most consistently successful club after it failed to win a title last season, finishing third in the Bundesliga.
Bayern has already signed Germany's No. 1 goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer, from Bundesliga rival Schalke.
