Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has called up Mario Balotelli and eight uncapped players for the friendly against England in Switzerland next week.

Prandelli opted for youth for Wednesday's match with the inclusion of teenagers Mattia De Sciglio, Stephan El Shaarawy and Mattia Perin, as well as 20-year-old Manolo Gabbiadini and Andrea Poli, 22.

Francesco Acerbi, Andrea Consigli and Federico Peluso are the other uncapped players in the 22-man squad announced Friday.

No Juventus or Napoli players were included because they will play in Saturday's Italian Supercup match in Beijing.

Antonio Cassano is one of several players rested following the European Championship, though Manchester City striker Balotelli has been called up.

Teenage Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has been recalled, along with Mattia Destro and Ezequiel Schelotto. All three were in Prandelli's provisional Euro 2012 squad but missed out on a place in the final 23.

Italy beat England on penalties in the quarterfinals on its way to the Euro 2012 final, which it lost to Spain.
