Ignazio Abate has signalled he wants to end his career at AC Milan as he approaches the end of his present contract.

The Italy defender has yet to sign an extension to his deal that ends next summer but insists he intends to stay at the San Siro.

"My priority is Milan," Abate told newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport. "I will stay here as long as I can.

"This is my home, although I know in football you can always be moved.

"I want to stay here and finish my career. I couldn't see myself in another jersey, at least not in Italy.

"At most I will go abroad. But the time to say goodbye hasn't come.

"I still get excited when I walk into Milanello (Milan's training ground)."

The 27-year-old right-back went through Milan's youth system before spending the next five years out on loan at different Italian clubs.

He returned to Milan in 2009 and has been a regular first-team player since.

Abate, who was a member of Italy's squad at the World Cup in Brazil this summer, has made seven starts for Milan this season.
