Ireland beats Cyprus 1-0 in WC qualifier

Robbie Keane scored a fifth-minute header Wednesday to give Ireland a 1-0 win over Cyprus in a World Cup qualifying match.

Ireland took the lead when Damien Duff got free of his marker, beat two defenders and chipped a cross over Cyprus goalkeeper Antonis Giorgallidis for Keane to head into an open net.
