Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has pulled out of France's squad for friendlies against the United States and Belgium because of a knee injury.

The French Football Federation said Tuesday on its website that Nasri has tendinitis in his knee.

Nasri told French television that ''I have a problem in my knee since the Villarreal match'' and ''it's an old issue which is resurfacing.''

Nasri played in Man City's 2-1 win over Villarreal in the Champions League last week. But manager Roberto Mancini left him on the bench for the 3-2 win against Queens Park Rangers last weekend in the Premier League.
