Infantino urges UEFA leaders to share FIFA funds worldwide
BUDAPEST, Hungary --
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has urged European soccer leaders to give money to poorer federations from increased funds they get from Zurich.
Infantino tells the 54 UEFA members: ''Give it to other federations around the world if you don't need the money.''
All FIFA members should get big rises in their annual grant to fulfil a key election promise by Infantino.
The FIFA president was elected in February after promising to give each member federation $5 million every four years.
FIFA members got $2.05 million each in a four-year cycle tied to the 2014 World Cup.
Infantino, the former UEFA general secretary, says ''with very little we can achieve a lot.''
He says, ''You in Europe, we can show together, we can make a difference in the world.''
