Independiente moved into the top half of the table after a 2-1 defeat of San Martin San Juan in Argentina's Apertura.
Cristian Pellerano gave Independiente a 20th-minute lead, which was doubled five minutes before half-time with Pablo Cantero's own goal.
Although Diego Garcia pulled a goal back eight minutes into the second half, but San Martin San Juan was unable to find an equaliser.
