Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored both goals as Sweden beat the Faeroe Islands 2-0 in a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

The Sweden captain opened the scoring in the 35th minute after the Faeroes' defense failed to clear Mikael Lustig's cross.

The hosts dominated possession but lacked finishing, squandering several chances before Ibrahimovic converted a penalty in the 82nd minute.

The goal came two minutes after Sweden was reduced to 10 men, with Andreas Granqvist being sent off for retaliating against Frodi Benjaminsson.
