Hoffenheim says midfielder Boris Vukcevic remains in critical but stable condition after a traffic accident in which he collided head on with a truck Friday.

The Bundesliga club is in in close contact with his family and says the 22-year-old Vukcevic remains in an induced coma in a Heidelberg hospital.

Hoffenheim general manager Andreas Mueller says ''we know that Boris is in good hands in the hospital and can only hope now that his condition stabilizes further.''

Vukcevic suffered life-threatening head injuries in the collision between the cities of Hoffenheim and Heidelberg. He was airlifted to the hospital and induced into a coma after an operation. The truck driver received treatment for minor injuries.
