EDINBURGH, Scotland (AP) Hibernian fired manager Terry Butcher after a unanimous decision from the club's board of directors on Tuesday.

The team was relegated from the Scottish Premiership at the end of the season, and the former England captain met with chairman Rod Petrie and chief executive Leeann Dempster on Monday.

Butcher spent just one season with the club after signing a three-year deal in November.

His squad finished 11th in the premiership, winning eight games.

''Sadly, for a variety of reasons and perhaps including unfortunate timing, it hasn't worked out for Terry here,'' Dempster said.
