Heskey keen to extend career

Heskey, who is out of contract at Villa Park next summer, has been deployed in an advanced midfield position by McLeish so far this season. At 33 he is entering the twighlight of his career yet Heskey is enjoying his football as much as ever. "You will never get that enthusiasm out of a player," he told the Birmingham Mail. "It's something that will always be there even if the training gets harder as the years pass. "My enthusiasm to go into train, to go out and play, the banter - that's always there. "My recovery is not as easy as it used to be but I will carry on for as long as my body can take it. "I'm still only 33 so hopefully I can keep going for a while yet. You just have to take it year by year and see what happens. "Hopefully I will get a few more games this season. Who knows? But I will always be ready. "I'm 33, but I'm like a kid - I want to play in every game, but no-one is guaranteed to do that."
