Hearts goes top of Scottish league as Celtic draws

GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) Hearts went top of the Scottish league on Wednesday after Celtic conceded a late penalty in a 2-2 draw against Kilmarnock.
Hearts beat Motherwell 2-0 for its third win in three games and is now two points ahead of defending champion Celtic, which dropped its first points after Kallum Higginbotham equalized for Kilmarnock from the spot in the 88th minute.
Celtic had taken the lead through Leigh Griffiths after just three minutes before Josh Magennis leveled for the host just before halftime. But Celtic was back in front after 55 minutes when Nir Bitton unleashed a stunning 30-yard shot into the top corner.
That looked to be enough for the visitors until Emilio Izaguirre brought down Greg Kiltie in the area and Higginbotham stepped up to equalize with a cheeky chipped penalty.
In the night's other game, Inverness played out a 0-0 draw with Partick.
