The king of Saudi Arabia has fired the country's football federation president following the national team's disappointing performance at the Asian Cup.
A statement from King Abdullah's office on Saturday says Sultan bin Fahd bin Abdul-Aziz has been removed from his post and replaced by Prince Nawaf bin Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdul-Aziz.
Traditionally a power in Asian football, Saudi Arabia's Asian Cup campaign has been a disaster.
The team fired coach Jose Peseiro following a shock opening 2-1 loss to Syria, and replaced him with Naser al-Johar, a former Saudi Arabia defender and coach.

Saudi then dropped its next match to Jordan 1-0, meaning it can no longer advance to the next round.
The Saudis play Japan in their final Group B match on Monday.
