Harry: Nasri followed the money

Nasri, who completed his £25million move to City from Arsenal this week, is likely to make his debut against Spurs in Sunday's Premier League clash at White Hart Lane. The former Gunners player is reported to have doubled his wages by moving to the Etihad Stadium, but maintains that money was not the motivating factor behind his decision to leave Arsenal. Redknapp, however, disagrees. "I don't believe that, no. He could have gone to Man Utd," Redknapp added. "They wanted him and he wanted to go to Man Utd really, that's what I heard. But then Man City came in and offered him more money again so he went to Man City. That's how it goes. It's just a shirt and off we go." City captain Carlos Tevez is one star who is not happy at the club. The Argentina striker wants to move back to his homeland to be nearer his family, but Redknapp is perplexed as to why he would want to leave a club that he feels is on the brink of greatness. "It is strange," Redknapp said. "Unless you are going to go to Barcelona or Real Madrid, I can't see where you would want to go other than Man City. I can't see anywhere he can go where he is going to better his football." City were this week drawn against Villarreal, Bayern Munich and Napoli in the group stages of the Champions League. Barcea are favourites to become the first team in history to retain the Champions League, but City's strength in depth means they are serious contenders to win the competition at their first attempt, according to Redknapp. The Spurs boss added: "They will be challenging for the Champions League. "They will eventually be challenging for everything because they have the resources to keep bringing in the best players in the world. "Eventually if the owner stays with the club, which I'm sure he will, they will win the Premier League. "It's a club everyone wants to be at now. It's scary." Redknapp, who is moving closer to signing West Ham's Scott Parker, saw his team drawn against Rubin Kazan, PAOK Salonika and European debutants Shamrock Rovers in the Europa League Group A on Friday. Redknapp was delighted to have drawn the Irish side. "Ah, fantastic!" was the Spurs' boss response when his team drew the Dublin-based team. "Credit to Shamrock Rovers. We look forward to going there and playing them. We'll have a lovely weekend in Dublin."
