Hannover says its players will wear shirts with a black No. 1 in tribute to goalkeeper Robert Enke for the rest of this season. The Bundesliga club said that the German Football League gave its approval Wednesday to the plan. Germany goalkeeper Enke died after throwing himself in front of a train on Nov. 10. His widow later said he had suffered from depression for years. Hannover said the plan for the special shirts with a black No. 1 on the chest was initiated by United States defender Steve Cherundolo. The team first wore the shirts for its league match against Schalke last weekend.
