Hamburger SV says striker Mladen Petric will be out of action for three to four weeks after tearing a muscle in his right calf.
The Bundesliga club says Petric suffered the injury during a practice session on Thursday.
Hamburg is next to last in the Bundesliga. It hosts Kaiserslautern on Sunday.
