Bundesliga strugglers Hamburg have appointed former Holland coach Bert van Marwijk as their new boss.

The club announced the 61-year-old had signed a contract until June 2015 to replace Thorsten Fink, who was dismissed last week following the team's poor start to the season.

Van Marwijk led Holland to the 2010 World Cup final, where they lost to Spain, but left his position with the national team after they lost all three matches at Euro 2012.

Van Marwijk has coached in the Bundesliga before, having been in charge of Borussia Dortmund from 2004 to 2006. He has brought in Roel Coumans as his assistant.
