Former Germany international and Champions League winner Dietmar Hamann will start his managerial career in English football's semiprofessional leagues.
The 37-year-old Hamann has signed a one-year contract with Stockport County, which was demoted from the professional leagues to the Conference at the end of last season.
Hamann played 62 times for Germany and won the Champions League in 2005 with Liverpool. He had coaching roles at MK Dons and Leicester last season.
Stockport had been in the Football League for 105 years before its relegation.
