A striker at a top Argentinean soccer team was set to be thrown out of the club after allegedly threatening his teammates with a paintball gun in the locker room.

Local media said Teo Gutierrez toted the weapon as his Racing Club colleagues rounded on him for getting himself sent off in a 4-1 defeat at Independiente on Saturday, a result that saw the team's coach fired.

The Colombian was dismissed midway through the second half for insulting the referee, leaving Racing with only nine men left on the field. It was his fourth red card in little over a year with the team.

But it was the crazy gun stunt that triggered his departure.

Club president Gaston Cogorno declared that Guiterrez was "finished" at the club, Ole reported Tuesday.

"He cannot continue [here]," he added. "We are looking for the best solution for him and the club."
