Gutierrez signs 2-year extension with Newcastle

Newcastle has signed Argentina midfielder Jonas Gutierrez to a two-year contract extension that ties him to the English club until 2015.

The 28-year-old Gutierrez says he had ''no hesitation in signing a new contract. It has been a good start to the season and this is a great place to be.''

Gutierrez, who joined from Spanish club Mallorca in 2008, has scored three goals to help Newcastle sit fourth in the Premier League standings.

Gutierrez has also been a regular in Argentina's national team, featuring at last year's World Cup.
