Guatemala beats El Salvador 2-0 in exhibition

Fredy Thompson and Transito Montepeque scored to lead Guatemala over El Salvador 2-0 Tuesday night in an exhibition.
Before 12,246 at RFK Stadium, Thompson scored on a left-footed shot from just inside the top of the penalty area in the 45th minute. He took a pass from Mario Castellanos, dashed left and shot back past goalkeeper Benji Villalobos, who came off his line.
Montepeque worked free and scored on a left-footed shot from 15 yards in the 81st minute.
Play was stopped in the 62nd minute for trainers to tend to Guatemala goalkeeper Ricardo Jerez's injured left ring finger. Jerez stayed in the game.

Guatemala's Marco Pappa missed on a scoring chance when he hit the left post in the 25th minute.
