Groin tear likely to end Nigel De Jong's World Cup

Netherlands midfielder Nigel de Jong's World Cup is almost certainly over after tests confirmed he has a tear in his groin muscle.

The Dutch football association on Tuesday said the injury will likely sideline the AC Milan star for two to four weeks.

De Jong limped off in the ninth minute of the Netherlands' 2-1 second-round comeback win over Mexico on Sunday.
