The Hungarian government has pledged 10 billion forints (?36.4 million; $50.6 million) to help Hungarian football club Debrecen build a new stadium.
Prime Minister Viktor Orban spokesman Peter Szijjarto says the funds will be provided to a company to be set up jointly by the state and the city of Debrecen.
Debrecen, which reached the group stage of the Champions League last season and is now competing in the Europa League, has been forced to play its international matches in Budapest because its own stadium is too small and was not approved by UEFA.
The new stadium, with covered seating and an expected capacity of 20,000 spectators, is planned to be inaugurated in 2012, when the team celebrates its 110th anniversary.
