Got soccer fever? Even 'The Simpsons' have jumped on the soccer bandwagon

It's a summer of soccer for fans in the United States. The Women's World Cup, the Gold Cup and some of the biggest European teams are touring the States.

So it makes sense that The Simpsons would get in on the action.

The very popular mobile game The Simpsons Tapped Out allows fans to build their very own Springfield and, right in time for the Women's World Cup Final, they've added a timely, soccer-friendly event.

Homer and Lisa are decked out in their soccer gear with Homer wielding a red card, and players ware allowed to pit their Springfields head to head in a soccer style showdown. But because this is the Simpsons, of course, Homer's managed to mangle the rules of the beautiful game into something fairly unrecognizable. (Also, there's a horse involved. Better not to ask.)

This is not the first time that the Simpsons have embraced soccer lovers. Some of the USWNT players were 'Simpson-ized' before they headed off to Canada for the World Cup.
