Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons has been called up to the France squad for the first time for friendlies against the United States and Belgium.

The French Football Federation says France coach Laurent Blanc included him in the squad, just a day after Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri pulled out because of tendinitis in his knee.

Blanc has several players injured in midfield. Chelsea winger Florent Malouda picked up a knock on his thigh while Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye is nursing a groin strain.

France will host the United States on Friday and Belgium four days later.
